There are objects that are universally recognized as icons. The Costes armchair which; in 1984; marked the beginning of the collaboration between Philippe Starck and Driade; and the consecration of the then unknown designer in Italy; it is definitely one of these objects.

Materials and construction
Structure in black painted tubular steel; curved plywood body with mahogany finish; ebonized mahogany; Gray oak; striped wenge or bamboo. Padding in polyurethane foams with fixed cover in black leather or light leather. Internal use only.
