Vitra is a family-run design company headquartered in Birsfelden, Switzerland. Founded by Willi Fehlbaum in 1953 after a trip to the United States, to discover the chairs designed by Charles and Ray Eames. Management responsibilities were subsequently entrusted to the founder's sons who, following a fire that destroyed production, took advantage of the opportunity to develop a new plan for the Vitra Factory Campus. In 2012, the Fehlbaum brothers in turn transferred the management of the company to the third generation of the family, represented by Nora Fehlbaum. Vitra makes a major contribution to sustainability by avoiding following short-term trends and forgoing non-essential details. For this reason, the company sets out together with its collaborators in search of optimal solutions, placing attention on the durability and longevity of the products.Materials and construction |
